All of our long semester's work is finally starting to culminate in our final machine. I wish I could say that everything is coming together nicely, but we have hit some final snags in our quest for glory. Our scoop was preforming perfectly the first time we tested it, but somehow between then and now, the zero modifications we did cause some error to happen. The fixed motor was a little broken, so hopefully this was the main source of our problem. From a mechanical standpoint, everything is working fine though, so this is not a major concern, although we did want to see the affects of our new timing pulley gear ration (2:1) compared to our old 1:1.
Most of our problems still lie in our car. Although the "hopper" worked far better then we thought, mounting it to our machine has been a lot harder then expected. We have salvaged what we hope to be a viable solution, but constraints left us unable to test today. JB Weld might yet again save the day, though, as it has helped tremendously with the mounting phases. We did solve the problem of our motor axle by simply adding another bracket to support the axle. Our final difficulty now seems to be coordinating our two machines in the slot at the same time, which is why we are reserving two more hours to test.
More pictures and updates to come once our machine is finalized.
